Hey Favored Friend! Did you who read my post on 31 Days of Praying for Your Husband? If so, you’ll remember how awesome and empowering the daily messages were. And, I can say that, because somebody else wrote them! 😉 Well, now we have been extra blessed, because the same group that created 31 Days of Praying for Your Husband has now rolled out 31 Days of Praying for Your Children! And, I could not be more thrilled about it. 🙂
My husband and I read a devotional by Joseph Prince, called *Destined to Reign. And, on one of the days, he explains how Orthodox Jews have a tradition of praying for their children. On Friday evenings in their homes, the father lays his hands on his children and pronounces God’s blessings over them. Joseph also makes a good point when he says it is no wonder Jewish children grow up to be winners in the fight of life! They become some of the world’s greatest inventors, bankers, musicians and entertainers. And, although a minority race, the Jews have produced the most number of Nobel Prize winners. Joseph believes, and so do I that it is because they bless their children in the same way the patriarchs of the Old Testament did. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob released God’s blessings upon their children by laying hands on them and speaking forth the blessings. (Genesis 27:27-29, 38-40; 48:14-16)
This is quite the example that has been set forth for us. And, I don’t know about you, but I certainly need to step up my game in this category. That being said, I welcome you to join me in starting this series of 31 Days of Praying for Your Children, and let’s make this a lifestyle of speaking blessings over our families. 🙂 Come back each day in the month of August to get the new prayer!! Excerpts have been taken from *Destined to Reign Devotional, by Joseph Prince.
