Are you familiar with John 14:12-14?
It says.. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” (NKJV)
I’m wondering how many people actually believe these verses.
Let’s talk about the implications of believing this verse. Jesus said that we would do “greater works” than He did. WOW! Really?! GREATER works. That is pretty astounding, don’t you think?
Makes me ask myself… have I ever done greater works than Jesus did. No. Well then.. have I even done some of the things that Jesus did? Guess that depends on what we’re talking about. But, the bottom line is that it makes me think that I may be missing out on some things and not yet living the full supernatural life Jesus has called us to live.
Well, let’s go back to the topic of this post. Healing.
Friends, Jesus healed people. He made the lame to walk. He caused the blind to see and the deaf to hear. And, in the verses above, He clearly calls us to do greater things than He did.
So, would it be too far fetched to actually believe that God has called people today to be in the healing ministry? In other words, is it too far a stretch of the imagination to actually believe the Holy Spirit works through people today and heals cancer, heals dementia, opens blind eyes and causes people to arise from their wheelchairs and walk?
And, if this is God’s expectation, then why isn’t it ours? Why aren’t we experiencing more healing and signs and wonders in the majority of the Christian churches today? Personally, I think there are many reasons. Some churches are scared. Some churches are too stuck in their manmade doctrines. Some churches are simply shallow and don’t want to make any waves.
Whatever the reason, I am not here to judge, nor try to change them. But, I do challenge you to start asking some of these questions. And, I want to let you know that I am on this journey with you. If you read my post, Healing in his Hands, you’ll remember how shocked I was when when healing poured forth through my husband’s hand to our son and instantly brought peace and calm to him.
So, where are you at in this journey? Have you witnessed any miraculous healings before or it this a new concept to you?
