[pinit]Hello Lovely Ladies!! I hope you have been enjoying the Holiday Season so far! I just love this time of year! Although if I could change one thing here in Florida… it would be the weather. Yes, yes it is beautiful down here. And, I know people live down here because they love warm weather. But… come on already, 90 degrees in November?! Sheesh!
I have one whole side of my closet that is begging me to wear it, but they all have long sleeves. And, let me tell you.. a sweater in this heat, running around, chasing a Toddler would make for a very hot mama! And, I’m talking temperature here… 😉 Oh well.. I’m sure some nice cool weather will grace our presence come Thanksgiving this week. Or at least I can hope!
Now, moving on to the Favor Moments- Part 2.. 🙂 (If you missed the first one, be sure to read Finding Favor Part 1) I must admit, this has been a challenge to keep track of. I’ve come to realize how much stuff we actually take for granted. On a number of occasions, a positive event has happened in our life and I think… “Yes! That is God’s favor! I’ll be sure to remember that!” And, I don’t write it down….. then Poof! It’s gone.
I completely forgot what happened! Now, given my memory has an interesting way of working, but my goodness.. how could I forget some things that seem so awesome at the moment? Could it be our fast paced, technology driven lifestyle and always being barraged with new information or maybe it’s just “Mom brain” at it’s finest…
Alas, I’m happy to write these posts, so I can look back and give Glory to God for His goodness. 🙂
The other day my husband was walking in the door with his hands full. And, Crash! One of his super expensive PI cameras fell on the floor. Ouch! Well, my first inclination was to Thank God for protecting the camera.
My husband on the other hand and been working all day and just drove a really long way home. So, he was kind of tired and his first reaction was not quite as faith-filled. He examined the camera and quickly convinced himself that the camera was broken and no longer worked. Well, I did not accept that “fact”, because I KNOW that we have God’s favor in our life, so it would not make sense for us to lose several hundred dollars because of a simple accident.
I took the camera and sat it next to me. I thanked God for having protected the camera and letting it work properly. I went on with my business on the lap top. But, I just had such a strong knowing that the camera was now working, that I had to pick it up and turn it on. And, guess what?!
The camera worked perfectly! I asked my husband what he was making such a big deal out of and told him the camera works great! He gave me a disbelieving look, took the camera, examined it and started praising the Lord! Gotta love it! How awesome is it that although one spouse may be struggling in faith on something, that the other can make up for it with theirs! So, what was this? God’s favor….
This next story, I hope none of my neighbors read.
We have 5 chickens in our backyard. But, we also live in a subdivision. So, let’s just say not everybody may be in favor of this, if they happened to find out. But, the cool thing is that we have woods in our backyard and our house is set back, so we virtually have no backyard neighbors.
Well, the other day, my husband was mowing the lawn in the evening when it started raining and shortly after became dark outside. He wrapped up sooner than expected and I gave not thought to it… until the next day. I noticed in the morning that the back gate was not locked. It was very unusual for my husband to forget to lock the gate, but I just made a mental note to lock it later.
Later that afternoon, I went outside to tend to the birds when I again saw the gate unlocked. I immediately locked it, when the thought occurred to me that Matt may have forgot to lock the front gate. (The one leading out to our front yard and cul-de-sac.)
When I went to go check, I noticed, Yes, he did forget to lock it. But, not only that, he forgot to close it!!! One small gush of wind could have blown the gate all the way open. But, by the grace of God, the gate stayed just barely open (all night long and through the next afternoon!) and the birds who had been out for hours stayed put in our property. Now, let me tell you, this only happened because of God’s favor!!
In an attempt to keep my posts shorter, I will end with this 3rd story. The other day, my husband got a phone call from a potential new client, who had found him through an online referral program. The phone call went well, but for whatever reason, the client said he wanted to first talk to his attorney and see if he had any referrals. Well, with over 84, 000 attorneys in the state of Florida, Matt figured that was the end of that.
Until, the potential new client called back! Apparently, the guy’s attorney just happens to be one that Matt just did a couple very successful jobs for. And, the law firm had decided to refer all of their business to Matt. So, yep.. you guessed it. The client who decided to go a different route was referred back to Matt and he landed the deal!! Now, that just has God written all over it! There is no way we could have orchestrated that deal by ourselves.
Well, ladies~ it is with great pleasure once again to give God all the glory for the “coincidences” in my life. He is the true source of our blessings and I am grateful for the opportunity to share them with you. My prayer is that you will be encouraged to start looking for God’s favor in your life too!
